So if when reading this post your are saying to yourself, "something is different" you're right. The other half of the Bryce and Kathleen is posting this one. The last time I did a post was Oct. 7, 2008. Why? Because Kathleen just had Spencer and was on injured reserve and I was all coach had to put in. Faint memories of being picked last in kickball in 4th grade are creaping in........anyway. So what is the occasion today? Kathleen is on injured reserve because she had our second beautiful boy friday. She was 9 days overdue and despite trying everything under the sun to get this little guy out she had to be induced. We went in just before midnight on thursday. The first part of the induction came at 2:00 AM Friday morning. They put something on her cervix to make it more elastic so it would dialate quicker. Well, that is all it took. 20-30 minutes later she was having contractions. An epidural made things a little easier on her for the next few hours. To get the contractions a little bit stronger they gave her some pitocin at about 6:00 AM. When the doctor showed up at about 8 the little guy was ready to come out. He told the nurses to get her pushing while he checked on the other patients he had in there and he'd be back. Well the nurses had her give one push and then had to tell her to stop and called the doctor right back. Ten minutes of pushing and he was out. We are so blessed that it went as smoothly as it did. Here's right after the birth. I was pretty quick on the draw with the camera!
He could be heard saying, "Hello world! I've finally made it!"
Here's play by play video evidence.
To our surprise our second son was a lot bigger than his older brother was. He was 1/2 oz short of 9lbs at 8lbs 15.5ozs. He is also unusually tall (when compared to the usual short genes in the family) at 21 in.
He told us he stayed in for an extra 9 days just for this moment right here.
He's been a very calm little boy except when you try to change his diaper.
Owen gave Kathleen a "high five" after the nurses got done cleaning him up. I captured the moment immediatly after the "high five."
Spencer was a little nervous at first to meet his little brother, but since hasn't stopped telling everyone about, "Baby Owen." He loves his little brother so much he was willing to share some of his teddy grahams and give him his "Handy Manny" toy.
He has continued the trend since we arrived home. We caught him trying to sneak Owen some of Mommy's sprite.
To finish my blogspot benchwarmer post, here is just about the cutest video ever of Spencer with his new baby brother. These two little boys are going to be getting into lots trouble in no time, but they are more than worth it!
On a more serious note, we named Owen after my (Bryce) grandpa. I have his name as a middle name and we both, Kathleen and I, really look up to him. Helaman in the Book of Mormon has two sons named Nephi and Lehi. He told them the reason for their names was so that when they remembered their names they would remember what great things their forefathers had done. We hope that little Owen will do the same.

Yay he's here! What a sweet baby. Hard to believe how tiny they are at first (though he wasn't very small for you!). Glad you're all doing well.
Congratulations, he's adorable! So cute that you have two boys now. I love having mine even though they really are like two little bear cubs wrestling and being crazy together. Have fun :)!
