One!

Our little Owen turned 1 today! The year has gone by so fast. I just spent the last 20 minutes looking at pictures and videos of Owen's first few months. It is amazing how quickly they grow. And it has been so fun to watch Owen grow and see his personality. 

Anyway, we had a pretty laid back day. Daddy spent the day studying while we played, went to Target, and made Owen's cupcakes. Then we all went out to dinner at Outback (Bryce's choice because tomorrow is his birthday!). I think we have decided that from now on to celebrate our birthdays we will go out to eat by ourselves!  At least I decided that. :) 

After dinner we came home, sang happy birthday and ate some cupcakes.

I tried so many times to get a picture of Owen by himself in front of his door. But he only held still when Spencer sat next to him.  

The cupcakes. Owen really loves playing with any type of car right now. And I decided to do something fairly simple since it was only going to be us. It took me longer than I thought...mostly to make the cars out of homemade marshmallow fondant. But it was fun to try something new and turned out good enough to please Owen (and Spencer).

Singing happy birthday. You will notice that I started out singing in a different key than Bryce chimed in with. He told me he was trying to make it sound bad. Because that's just what his family does. :)

He ate the whole cupcake no problem. And made a huge mess of course! But he loved every minute of it.

And of course a picture of Spencer eating his cupcake. He was more excited about Owen's birthday than Owen was. And we had to talk multiple times throughout the day about it being Owen's special day and these are Owen's presents, etc. He did pretty well, but kept talking about his birthday in October. :) 

Funny that the balloons have kept Owen more entertained than any of the toys we got him for his birthday!
